Accreditation

It took nine years, but in 2018 the Rogerson Clematis Collection was awarded full accreditation in the Plant Collections Network, an initiative of the American Public Gardens Association in cooperation with the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The accreditation was awarded because we met all of the requirements of the PCN including: long term extension of our agreement with the City of Lake Oswego, completion of planting all of Brewster Rogerson's hardy clematis, development and maintenance of an accessions database and mapping of the location of all the clematis, and building an endowment which will eventually fund curatorial duties and clematis acquisition. Our curator, Linda Beutler, created (with Brewster) and keeps current the accessions database. In addition to protecting and growing the plants in Brewster's initial collection, our curator decides what plants to acquire and where to place them. All the plants are labeled and there is a description of the location of each plant. The Rogerson Clematis Collection is the only accredited living clematis plant collection in North America. Congratulations to all of our supporters, members, donors, our curator, and especially all of our many volunteers.
